Bon, as the autochthonous religion of Tibet, is significance for Tibetan culture. After the introduction of Buddhism to Tibet during the 7th century, there were often fiercing competition between the two traditions, especially during the reign of Langdarma. Over time, Bon has been losing influence and marginalized by the Tibetan political elite.
