Bon, as the autochthonous religion of Tibet, is significance for Tibetan culture. After the introduction of Buddhism to Tibet during the 7th century, there were often fiercing competition between the two traditions, especially during the reign of Langdarma. Over time, Bon has been losing influence and marginalized by the Tibetan political elite. The 14th Dalai Lama recognizes the Bon tradition as the sixth principal spiritual school of Tibet, along with the Nyingma, Sakya, Kagyu, Gelug and Jonang schools of Buddhism, despite the long historical competition between the Bon tradition and Buddhism in Tibet. This trip will take you to explore the Bon temples in most remote region as well as many nice temples of other schools Tibetan buddhism.
